The Myth Of The High Rate Of Divorce

This past year my wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. It is the second marriage for both of us and the relationship has only grown stronger over the years, teaching me more about love and trust and dependence then I ever imagined. Reaching this special “silver moment” spurred me to look around and think about the number of friends we have who also have great second marriages and led me to question the alleged statistic that 60+% of second marriages end in divorce. I also thought about how many friends we have who are still in their original marriages and appear to be very happy. Thus, I decided it was time to do some research on divorce rates.

In the process of preparing for this article, I learned what I had long suspected. The commonly quoted numbers are overstated myths, the more accurate numbers reflect complex factors, and that our society really has two very separate divorce rates, a lower rate (by half) for college-educated women who marry after the age of 25 and a much higher rate for poor, primarily minority women who marry before the age of 25 and do not have a college degree (most of the research focused on women; the little I read about men suggested similar outcomes).

need low cost service to help with divorce

can you send it in the mail by way of certified letter? He lives in a different state them me (I live in WI & he lives in MN). It costs too much for me to have the sheriff to serve him. He is willing to do anything for me for the divorce so I didn’t know if sending in the mail would work.
With a certified letter HE has to sign the paper that says he got the letter so there would not be reason to have to pay someone. Since I don’t have a lot of money I would rather save it for use on my children. So as long as there is proof that he received the papers that should be all I need?

I’m getting a divorce, something that should have happened long ago, and I already have a ton of bills. Thinking of doing a do-it-yourself divorce to save some needed cash. Luckily we don’t have any kids and the bills are already seperate -he has his and I have mine. The house and mortgage are in my name, not his. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!
and yes, it would be uncontested (thankfully)

How Does Divorce Mediation Work?

Divorce is an upsetting process. Strong emotions of anger can remain for years. Mind-set of being cast off can even be carried over to new relationships. For many divorcing couples, the most painful part of the proceedings is often the loss of self-esteem. Confronted with hardhearted thoughts of fear and anger, many people in the process of divorcing each other are often distraught by the ease in which they seem to forsake values that they had held in deep regard such as empathy, compassion, and respect. The need to hurt often takes the place of what used to be enduring and deep love. Revenge replaces considerate. Anger supplants civility. When such humanitarian values are given up, it results in the loss of self-esteem and self-respect that is often seen in divorce procedures.

Do it yourself divorce question?

My soon to be ex-wife and I are filling the divorce papers ourselves. This is my second divorce so I used my first divorce papers as a basis. We have no real estate, kids, cars, etc. So it should have been pretty cut and dry, but she wants to take her maiden name back and I’ve been told it has to be included in the paperwork. Does anyone know the proper wording to include this?

Serious answers only please.

i bought a divorce kit from office max and i have no idea how to fill out the papers, or who should fill them out? anyone have any clue.

I need to weigh all my options, if there are any options to file. What if I just take my property and leave? What ramifications wold there be a dn how would it affect the divorce request.

I am a victim of verbal abuse and just cannot take it anymore.

Besides divorce, what else is there out there. My husband is a good man, but he is very critical and demanding, and controlling.
